Ever heard of geocaching? It's like a real-world treasure hunt, but instead of X's marking the spot, it's GPS coordinates.
How does it work? You download a geocaching app, find a cache near you (or halfway across the Nullarbor, like we did!), and use the GPS coordinates to find its hiding spot.
The thrill of the hunt: Once you locate the cache, you'll find a small container with trinkets inside. Sign the logbook to prove you were there, then swap a trinket if you'd like.
Why geocaching? It's a great way to explore new places, learn about local history, and get some fresh air. Plus, it's a fun challenge for people of all ages.
Our latest geocache adventure took us from Norseman to Madura in Western Australia with ten caches found. With almost all the caches conveniently located beside the highway, our scenic roadtrip turned into a geocaching adventure. Each cache became an excuse for a refreshing rest stop, a chance to stretch our legs, and soak in the stunning Nullarbor landscape.
